Greeting Card Day

I made a fancy-pants meal for V-day. Braised lamb shank w/ butternut squash polenta and a brunois of pickled root vegtables. For desert a dark chocolate tart w/ ginger snap crust.

Marble Rye

I made a loaf of marble rye this week. I didn’t have any caramel coloring so the darker rye isn’t quite as dark as I’d like. Nonetheless it’s tasty.

Three Citrus Marmalade

We got a bunch of Texas Grapefruits, Oranges, and Tangerines in our CSA box this week. Lauren got me a canning book for christmas, so I decided to make some marmalade.

Bourbon Caramel Peach Pie

I came across a recipe for a honey bourbon caramel peach pie on the interwebs, that sounded way too amazing not to try.  Plus, local peaches are in right now.  I watched my Grandpa make countless crusts over the years but I have never had much luck in that department.  Lucky for me, there are many useful food blogs around these days.  I studied up here and my crust came out great!  I still think I prefer my peaches in cobbler form but this is a pretty delicious variation.

Chorizo Potato Tacos

I got a lot of potatoes in my CSA box this week, so I cooked some chorizo down with onion and shredded potato and wrapped them in tortillas.  So good.
