Dirty Martin’s
Lauren and I went to eat at Dirty Martin’s Saturday night. The UT football game had just finished and as such, we were the only people in the place not wearing burnt orange. Since the weather was comfy we opted for the outdoor section.

Avenue B Grocery
About 10 blocks up from our house is Austin’s oldest grocery store. It opened in 1906. It’s a pretty neat little place with two aisles of food. The produce is in wooden cubbies. The wall behind the cash register is lined with vintage sodas of all types. We stopped in for sandwiches today and it was well worth it. The proprieter took our order from a counter in the back. He was a really nice guy who joked with us about our choices. Lauren got a three-cheese sandwich and I went with Turkey with all the trimmings. We grabbed some glass bottled sodas from the cooler case and went outside to eat at the picnic tables. The food was really good and all the toppings fresh. You just can’t beat a good sandwich. I liked the small neighborhood vibe of this place and the kitchyness of all the metal signs and decorations. I think we’ll make this a regular lunch spot.

Fall
I love fall. October is my favorite month. I love the crisp air, the colorful leaves. Those things do not exist here and it’s really starting to bum me out. It’s in the 90’s. October is not meant for this. I want the possibility of putting on a jacket. I’ll trade the mild winters for fall. That’s fair right?
