bluegrass to lonestar

I visited Mighty Cone last summer, but Lauren had yet to try it so we ventured south today for lunch. She got an avocado-chicken cone and I went with the special of the day Purple Pig (a crispy pulled pork w/ purple cabbage slaw and spicy mustard). We split some fried pickles too. The purple pig was great, it was almost like carnitas but shredded.

Looking for a light fresh dinner on Friday we ended up at Tam Deli for Vietnamese. Lauren got a lemongrass beef vermicelli bowl and I went with the combo bahn mi. We split an order of pork & shrimp spring rolls. Super cheap and pretty tasty.

A belated post to recap SXSW 2010. We ate lots of free food and drank loads of free booze. The best had to be the pancake, nacho, deschutes party.

Tucked away amidst the residential area near zilker park is the greenbelt, a mass of trails, rockfaces and a creek.  Lauren and I decided that the incredible weather warranted a picnic.  After locating an entrance, which turns out to be much harder than expected, we hiked down to the creek and found a large rock to eat our lunch on.  There were a bunch of awesome paddle cacti and deadwood looking debris. The water was actually up in the creek, something I doubt lasts very long, and the wildflowers were blooming. Quite lovely.

Bike Hugger put on a social ride Saturday afternoon and enlisted the help of our Thursday Social Ride crew to make sure it went down right. The weather was amazing and the turnout was huge.  I missed the start but caught up with my friends shortly after.  After the leisurely cruise around town we ended up at Mellow Johnnys for the after party.  Free kegs & tons of bike schwag awaited us.  I snagged a sweet cog keychain and a beanie that fits under my helmet.  I love you sxsw and your free shit.
